NEWS/RUMORS (Nov 17th)

Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes) has officially denied any involvement in Spider-Man 4. That doesn't seem to stop more casting rumors there is now word that Julia Stiles has auditioned. Stiles is best known for her involvement in the Bourne series.

With the rumors of Joe Wright (Atonement) directing My Fair Lady being false, I've been wondering what we could see from him next. Now there is talk of Wright taking on Hanna. The project Danny Boyle was interested in that focuses on a 14 year old assassin. The film seems like a mix of La Femme Nikita, The Professional, Kick-Ass and anime Kite.

47 Ronin seems to be developing some movement. Keanu Reeves has already been hired for the lead role. Carl Erik Rinsch who was being pushed by Ridley Scott to take on Alien 5 is now helming. It will be the feature debut for Rinsch. The film is based on a true 18th Century Japanese story, the film follows a band of samurai swordsmen who are shamed into becoming the titular ronin — a Japanese word meaning lordless samurai, and must avenge the death of their master.

The Texas Killing Fields is another project Danny Boyle was eyeing, yet he felt he would need way too many high profile actors to get it made. There is now talk that Michael Mann's daughter Ami Mann could be helming. Ami worked as second unit director on Heat and this will be her feature debut. Sam Worthington (Clash of The Titans) and Bradley Cooper (A-Team) are rumored as being attached to star. Two cops realize that the latest murder in their jurisdiction connects their case to the notorious killing fields murders. The killing field murders concern four bodies that were found in the same place in Texas — along Interstate 45 near Calder Road in League City.

Danny Boyle's next film 127 Hours focuses on the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston, who had to cut his own arm off to survive. Cillian Murphy (Inception) is rumored to be in talks to play Ralston in the film. Murphy previously has worked with Boyle on 28 Days Later and Sunshine.

Rob Marshall (Nine, Chicago) is officially directing Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I'm unsure how a director of musicals will be able to deliver an entertaining action adventure film. I'm hoping for the best but I'm starting off with very low expectations. I have to give him credit on his attempt to adapt Memoirs of A Geisha.

Nestor Carbonell (Dark Knight) could end up playing Khan in Star Trek 2, if the character makes the sequel.

There are rumblings that Katie Holmes (Batman Begins, Thank You For Smoking) could have a role in Mission Impossible 4. She may even play the film's villain.
