Kathryn Bigelow's Triple Frontier (2011)

Kathryn Bigelow's next film will be the drug-crime-thriller Triple Frontier. The movie is set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge, making 'la triple frontera' difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime. Bigelow had noted that the film will use the same "raw and visceral visual style" as The Hurt Locker. I'd like to think she'll be getting a lot of studio interest and will be getting more financial support than she did on Locker. I hope Bigelow keeps making these intense action thrillers because I think nobody is doing them quite the same.

The film was written by Mark Boal who also wrote Hurt Locker based from his experiences working as a reporter in Iraq.

The project sounds like a mix between Traffic and the amazing Brazilian films City of God, City of Men and Elite Squad.
